Cazyapjazz enthüllen schon mit ihrem Namen die Klangfarbe ihrer Instrumente, die einfach für sich sprechen. Ihren türkischen Sound lassen Cazyappjazz in Drum´n Bass, Jazz, Fusion,Dub und Funk aufgehen. Im September 2003 wurde das experimentierfreudig angehauchte Projekt von Semih Yanyalı, der für die Impressionen aus der Kulturmetropole Istanbul zuständig ist, und von Murat Kücükboyacı in München gegründet. Mit zu dieser impulsiven Entdeckungsreise in die Vielfalt des Jazz Fusion sind auch Matthias Kaiser, Mathis Riehm, Reinhard Buchner und Ozan Aydoğan aufgebrochen. Ob eigensinnig, lebenslustig, fordernd oder melancholisch – ihre Musik kennt keine Grenzen. Nach einer ganzen Reihe von erfolgreichen Live-Performances stellt Cazyapjazz nun ihr Debüt-Album LATIFE vor.
Das ambitionierte Album LATIFE ist in der Zeit, als Cazyapjazz sich selbst entdeckte entstanden, beeinflusst und inspiriert durch jede Art von Musik, die sie hörten, und vereint ausdrucksvoll die Stilrichtungen aller sechs Künstler zu einem Ganzen. Mit ihren zehn (türkischsprachigen) Titeln beinhaltet das Album eine mitreißende Sammlung selbst produzierter Musik. Ein Intermezzo moderner Jazzeinflüsse und orientalischer Elemente, vor allem perfomt durch Semih Yanyalıs Synth- und E-Gitarrenklänge, die für groovende Soundeffekte sorgen, durch den Jazz-Touch Matthias Kaisers, der von Saxophone über Querflöte bis Klarinette reicht, durch Murat Kücükboyacıs klangvollen Tasteninstrumente und durch die Spielkünste des Electric & Fretless Bassisten Reinhard Buchner. Auch Mathias Riehm an den Drums und der Darbuka-Spezialist Ozan Aydoğan setzen ihre eigenen Akzente. Percussions, die türkische Darbuka oder der Oud treiben die Spannung voran. Dabei gehen anmutige Passagen in jazzigen Vibes auf, Instrumente lösen sich gegenseitig ab und treiben bewusst in andere Sphären – sanft und angenehm – ganz im Sinne des Albumtitels LATIFE.
Mit überragenden, ständig wechselnden Rhythmen und plötzlichen Breaks wie in „Leb-i Derya Efkarla“, „Başιm Duman“ und „Vadesiz Vedalarιndan“ sind Cazyapjazz ganz in ihrem Element. „Sehr-i Istanbul`da“ versetzt einen zeitweise in die 70er Jahre New Yorks und überrascht dann mit sinnlichen Klängen der Geige, die sich dann auf ein furios angejazztes Wechselspiel mit dem Saxophon einlässt, wie zwei Liebende eben, denn „Sehr-i Istanbul`da“ ist eine Hommage an eine Liebesnacht in Istanbul. Alles geht virtuos ineinander über. Auch bei den frischen funky Stücken „Esinlenirken“ und „Aşka Aşıkım Ben“ zeigen Cazyapjazz ihr ganzes Repertoire an Soundästhetik, bis einem der Musiker langsam die Puste ausgeht. Eine Bereicherung für das Album sind die Session-Musiker Şeref Dalyanoğlu („Velhasi“) auf der Oud und der indisch-stämmige Violinist Manoj Baruah („Ve Sen“). Zwischen den groovig-jazzigen Sounds und Clubbeats performen die Solisten mit viel Gefühl melancholische Melodien. Cazyapjazz orientieren sich auch mit Erfolg an Coverversionen. „Şimdi Uzaklardasın“, der Klassiker im Original von Zeki Müren, dem Sänger und Komponist von Türk Sanat Müziği (Kunstmusik), öffnet sich durch den besagten urbanen Hauch auf eine besondere Art. „Bu Nağmeler“ heißt das Outro, ein Stück zum Chillen, das dem ganzen Album noch einmal die Richtung vorgibt, denn es geht um Melodien, die frei sind – frei wie Jazz. Bis auf „Şimdi Uzaklardasın“ sind alle anderen Tracks auf ihrem Album komponiert und arrangiert von Semih Yanyalı und Murat Kücükboyacı. Die Aufnahmen fanden 2006/07 im Münchner Ant Music Studio statt und erschienen ist das erst Cazyapjazz Studioalbum 2007 bei Konnex Records/ Berlin. Cazyapjazz mischen die Szene von München bis Istanbul und weit hinaus auf. Der coole Stilmix fasziniert und das Album LATIFE gibt ein Vorgeschmack auf das, was noch folgen kann. Semih Yanyali ( lived 15 years in culture metropole Istanbul ) and Murat Kucukboyaci ( born and grown up in Munich ) present an eclectic sound that mixes the Romany (Gypsy) sounds of Istanbul with the electronic rhythms and influences of London, jazz grooves and improvisations of New York and cosmopolitan culture of Munich.
Cazyapjazz is an unlimited and contemplative project of six musicians that combines dark, profund and entertaining elements, sometimes coarse, sometimes complex, regardless of genre and time.This sextet presents an amazing synthesis of eastern themes based on drum & bass, dub, funk and jazz.

Semih Yanyali: Electric & Fretless & Synth Guitars, Digital Sounds
Semih Yanyali who resides since 1998 in Munich (grown up in Istanbu) has been a part of many different bands and projects. Credited as ‘one of the best young generation Turkish guitar players’ by respected Turkish jazz critic Sevin Okyay and also by famous bass player Benny Rietveld (Miles Davis, Carlos Santana, John Lee Hooker) Yanyali has played festivals, tv & radio and club gigs in Germany, Austria, France, Turkey, Slovak Republic, Slovenia... with his band Cazyapjazz, also with Kaiser & Semih and Projektil.
Murat Kücükboyaci: Keyboards, Samples
Inspired by his father and uncle, Murats interest to this instrument, full of keys that want to be played by skilful hands, emerged. Overwhelmed by this passion and the love to the keys, from this point on he started with daily practised finger-exercises that took him into unknown musical spheres and expanded his skills into different styles of music.
Since then he also participated in turkish as well as in funk and pop projects, what comes together in an interesting mixture with Cazyapjazz.
Ozan Aydogan: Percussion, Darbuka, Spoken Words
1979 Ozan Aydogan was literally born into the music. Influenced by a family of musicians, he quite early began to proof his rhythmic talent and addicionally had classical piano courses. all this influences showed up over the years in varios parties and celebrations in different locations.
This wide spectrum of musical experience and the affections of western and eastern culture now unites in the project Cazyapjazz.
Matthias Kaiser: Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet
Studied at Berklee College of Music. Some of his teachers are Raoul Guiterez , Rick Keller und George Garzone. In the meantime he is playing with Cazyapjazz and some other projects and also he carries on his teaching activisties. Experienced Sax player had many prices and awards in Jazz, Funk&Soul, Pop era.
Reinhard Buchner: Bass
The man with the five-string-deep-tone-instrument prefers to operate with the finger (lat. digitus) and the thumb (lat. pollex). Beside studio recordings and concerts with various musicians and projects you can also listen to him in the band Anou. He feels homelike in all stylistics, so he is predestinated to complete the rhythm-section of Cazyapjazz.
Mathis Riehm: Drums, Electronics
Since now more than 18 years tries trommelatze, alias Mathis Riehm, to enrich the cosmos with fat beatz and groovy vibes by swinging smartly coordinated the drumsticks. What began just for fun and more or less coincidentially, developed into an extraordinary passion, that was expressed mainly in the last years in various jam- and band-projects. Concerning the style his playing is basicly influenced by the sound he is listening to: from funk to acidjazz over hiphop and triphop to drum & bass much "dance-leg-stimulating" material affected his playing-style, what is also clearly notable in the style of cazyapjazz. besides that, Mathis Riehm is studying philosophy in order to get himself in search for the essential nature of the ontology of music in higher spheres of conciousness...
