Baro Ferret (1908-1976) played jazz with Django and the QHCF, invented the swing waltz, and even the bebop-waltz! He is one of the most remarkable musicians in the history of gypsy jazz, and so is this CD (his only recording, from Paris 1965/66). Part one is Baro’s swing interpretations of the traditional waltzes (“the waltzes from yesterday”), and part two is Baro’s own cosmic extravaganza – the “waltzes of today”! A must!
