Info

Jean-Luc Fillon is one of the rare French musician with such an original path : bass player, oboist, fond of english horn, he also leads a classical and jazz musician carreer.
Appreciated leader (with Patrice Caratini, Antoine Hervé, Glenn Ferris ou Paolo Fresu), he shows real talents of melodist with his favourite instrument, oboe. Talents that his last two albums “OBOA” and “Flea Market” perfectly illustrate.
“Echoes of Ellington” is the result of an exceptional collaboration around original arrangements of the great Duke’s music realised by Jean-Luc Fillon. With his fellow traveller, João Paulo, on the piano, Jean-Luc Fillon marries the english horn lyricism with the warm tone of Glenn Ferris’s trombone. A good rhythmics supports this trio with the drummer Tony Rabeson and the bass player Jean-Jacques Avenel, both important actors of the jazz scene (with Henri Texier, Eddy Louis, Michel Portal for the first one, with Steve Lacy, Mal Waldron, Archie Shepp or David Murray for the latter). A great success, both refreshing and captivating.
