Ganz einfach fünf Musiker und ihre akustischen Instrumente, das ist das Danish Martin Granum Acoustic Quintet. Auf eingängige Melodien fokussiert geht es ihnen allein um unverfälschten, handgemachten Jazz. Durch dynamische Teamarbeit und ein krachendes Gitarrenspiel bringt das Quintett den Hörer so nah an das prickelnde Gefühl des Sommers, wie es sonst nur gischtende Brandung und Vanilleeis schaffen. Es ist akustische Musik, die für sich selbst spricht – ohne künstlichen Zusatz elektronischer Hilfsmittel. Und tatsächlich wurde das ganze Album als Live-Mitschnitt mit nur wenigen Overdubs aufgenommen. Die meisten Lieder entstanden als Einzelstücke für die Sologitarre und wurden allmählich fürs Quintett arrangiert. Alle elf Stücke auf dem Album wurden vom Jazzgitarristen Martin Granum komponiert, der daraufhin einige der besten dänischen Jazzer in seinem Akustikquintett um sich scharte. Das Resultat ist atemberaubend.
Danish Martin Granum Acoustic Quintet is 5 musicians with their acoustic instruments. For the Quintet it is all about acoustic jazz with a focus on the melodic and catchy tunes. A super dynamic teamwork and a smashing guitar play make the Quintet the closest thing you get to the sparkling sound and feeling of summertime. It is acoustic music that speaks for itself – without the use of external electronic equipment. In fact, everything on the album is recorded live with a very few additional overdubs. Most of the tunes started as single pieces for solo guitar and were subsequently arranged for the quintet. The 11 songs on the album are all composed by jazz guitarist Martin Granum, who has gathered some of the finest Danish jazz musicians in his acoustic Quintet. The final result is nothing but outstanding.
