Das Ensemble Musique à neuf besteht aus 9 Musikern, die aus so verschieden Welten kommen wie der Jazz und traditionelle Musik. Das Ergebnis ist eine Reise zurück zu den Wurzeln europäischer Musik. Einfach, komplex – frei und doch strukturiert. Auf dem Pfad der Musik des 21. Jahrhunderts wandern Komposition und Improvisation Hand in Hand und verbinden sich Vergangenheit und Gegenwart zu einer Klangpalette von schwebenden Piano-Violine Duets bis hin zu Stücken mit Balkan-Blechbläsern und Begleitung von Dudelsäcken, Tuba und Akkordeon. Die Arrangements aus der Feder von Pirly Zurstrassen und Luc Pilartz bieten eine Mischung aus Duos und vollem Orchester und sind nur die erste Episode eines langen Abenteuers.

Musique à neuf is an original ensemble of... nine musicians, each from worlds as diverse as jazz and traditional music. The result is a walk back towards the roots of European music. Although the repertoire visits Gallacia, France and Ireland, the crew does not stop at geographical borders. It sketches imaginary lands and unknown shores in a musical language that is both simple, complex, free yet structured. On the path of 21st century music, composition and improvisation walk hand in hand. Musique à Neuf binds the past and present, drawing on the experience of each musician. The palette of sounds and orchestration goes from airy piano-violin duets to Balkan brass bands – all accompanied by drone bass, bagpipes, tuba and accordion. The arrangements, a mixture of intimate duos and full orchestra, are signed Pirly Zurstrassen and Luc Pilartz. This album is the first episode of a long adventure.
