Seit mehr als 40 Jahren ist der Jazzvirtuose Niels Jørgen Steen eine feste Instanz der dänischen Jazzszene und meistert das Rollenset des Künstlers, Komponisten und Dirigenten. 'Live From Paradise' ist ein Livealbum, auf das sich jeder Jazzfan freuen darf. Sobald der CD-Player beginnt es abzuspielen, fallen sie auf: die hohe Qualität, Hingabe und unerschöpfliche Energie, doch auch die grundfeste Dokumentation des universellen Montag-Nacht Konzepts, wie man es in Dänemark schon lange kennt. For more than 40 years Danish jazz virtuoso Niels Jørgen Steen has been a central figure on the Danish jazz scene, eminently mastering the roles of performing artist, composer and conductor. “Live From Paradise” is a LIVE album that every jazz fan will be looking forward to putting into the cd player. Not only is it characterized by high quality, devotion and everlasting energy, it is also a solid documentation of the splendid universal Monday Night-concept, as it is practised in Denmark. The album material varies between Niels Jørgen’s own compositions and bold and interesting interpretations of handpicked big band classics and all-time standards. The style is swing and bebop. Everything is performed by a dazzlingly clever 17-piece orchestra holding some of the finest Danish jazz musicians, and Niels Jørgen once again proves himself as the dynamic and very talented conductor that he is.
