„Live+“ ist der Nachfolger des 2004 veröffentlichten Debütalbums „Emil de Waal+“ vom Schlagzeuger und Komponisten Emil de Waal, das international von Kritikern gefeiert wurde. Diesmal wagt er sich jedoch weiter in elektronische Territorien vor.
Das Konzept eines „Live-Albums“ bietet völlig neue Perspektiven auf Live+, das, live aufgenommen und bearbeitet in Dänemark und den USA, eine ebenso sündige Studioaufnahme ist wie das Debüt. Schnitt, Mix und Overdub geschahen einmal mehr in Zusammenarbeit mit Andy Green (John Cale/ Velvet Underground) und Erik Sanko (John Cale/ Yoko Ono/ John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards) in New York und Kopenhagen. Der Computer wird auf Emil de Waal+ als regelrechtes Mitglied der Band aufgefasst und verdeutlicht ihre Arbeitsweise. Die elektronischen Teile der Musik sind nicht nur für den Basisrhythmus zuständig, sondern auch für Harmonien und Melodie verantwortlich.
Emil de Waal hat zusammen mit dem schwedischen Multitalent Gustaf Ljunggren und dem Pianisten Søren Kjærgaard (Ikscheltaschel) einen innovativen Elektronik-Jazz ins Leben gerufen. Alle Facetten der Musik werden losgelassen und bilden einen schwebenden Stil in der unerforschten Sphäre zwischen Free Jazz und konstanten elektronischen Beats.
Emil de Waals Dasein als professioneller Musiker begann 1987, als er und andere die Band „Bagdad Dagblad“ gründeten. Seitdem spielte er schon mit fast jedem aus Dänemark, überall auf der Welt und in den meisten Genres – von Underground zu universeller Popmusik.

Live+ is a follow up to drummer and composer Emil de Waal’s debut album from 2004, Emil de Waal+, which was internationally acclaimed by critics. This time, however, he is moving farther into electronic territory.
The concept of ‘live album’ acquires entirely new perspectives on Live+, where the live recordings have been edited and engineered in Denmark and the United States, just as transgressively as the studio recordings on his debut album. And, once more, editing, mixing and overdubbing in New York and Copenhagen were performed in collaboration with Andy Green (John Cale/Velvet Underground) and Erik Sanko (John Cale/Yoko Ono/John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards).
The computer as an additional member Emil de Waal+ deliberately includes the computer as an additional member of the band, and this truly reflects their way of working. The electronic parts of the music provide not only the basic rhythmic beat but also the musical harmonies and melodies.
Emil de Waal, together with Swedish multi-musician Gustaf Ljunggren and piano player Søren Kjærgaard (Ikscheltaschel), has created an innovative approach to electronic jazz. All the facets of the music are let loose, creating a floating style suspended in the unexplored sphere between free jazz and the constant electronic beat.
Emil de Waal’s professional life as a musician really took off in 1987 when he and others started the band ‘Bagdad Dagblad’. Since then, he has played with almost everybody in Denmark, all over the world and in most genres – from underground to universal pop music.
