Nach dem ersten Album «Terre» (2000, das ein singuläres aber echtes Weltmusik-Album war, in dem okzidentale und orientalische Instrumente bereits erfolgreich zusammengeführt wurden, ist nun «STRANGE» Julian Juliens neues Projekt, in dem Elektronik und Akustik eine perfekte Symbiose eingehen. Ein Saitenquartett vom CNSM aus Paris, ein Tablaspieler der Gruppe Massala Spirit, ein Prekussionist der Gruppe Iroko und ein Sitarist der Gruppe Mukta – hier kommen Musiker zusammen, die ihre Erfahrung in die herausragend komponierte Musik von Julian Julien einfließen lassen. Die Musik kann man als kulturelle Artenmischung bezeichnen, gefärbt durch eine Vielzahl von Einflüssen (Michel Portal, Keith Jarrett, Magma…); realisiert im Stile der 1970er/ 1980er Comics und japanischen Mangas. Letztlich ist es schöpferische Musik, gestaltet aus mehreren Klangpaletten und Schichten, die sich verbinden und ineinander übergehen: Die Kreation einer Parallelwelt – ein einzigartiges Album!

RezensionenInfoAfter the first album « Terre » (2000 – Prikosnovenie) which was singular but a real album of world music where the wedding of occidental and oriental instruments was already a success, « STRANGE » is Julian Julien's new project where electronic and acoustic get in symbiosis perfectly. A string quartet from the CNSM of Paris, a tablas player from the group Massala Spirit, a percussionist from the group Iroko and a sitarist from the group Mukta, here are some of the musicians who have brought their experiences to this outstanding music composed by Julian Julien. These music could be like a cultural miscegenation tinted by a plenty of currents (Michel Portal, Keith Jarrett, Magma,…) ; realised in the spirit of the seventies/eighties comics and of japanese mangas… It's in the end an inventive music made of several sounds palettes and of some stratums which clink together and overlap perpetually : the creation of a parallel world… what a bizarre album !
